Crew Energy Inc. Appoints New Director

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2009) - Crew Energy Inc. ("Crew") (TSX:CR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David G. Smith to our Board of Directors. Mr. Smith has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and is currently employed with Keyera Facilities Income Fund ("Keyera") where he was recently appointed Executive Vice President, Liquids Business Unit. Prior to his recent appointment, Mr. Smith served as Keyera's Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary since 1998. Prior to joining Keyera, Mr. Smith worked with Gulf Canada Resources Limited in a variety of finance, planning and business development roles spanning a period of seven years, most recently as Director, Corporate Finance. Mr. Smith was also previously employed by Imperial Oil Limited, in various marketing and finance positions. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University.
